JEWELS are full of contradictions: fun yet sad; mischevious yet serious;
deep yet playful; warm and sexy yet cold and distant; silk yet velvet;
classic yet innovative. But overall, catchy music which is very poignant.

Kev - Drums & Percussion
Having been in various Birmingham based bands for years and key member in church bands Kev was always
destined to drum with the band Jewels. Having met Julie “the cat” (his
words) and previously auditioning years before he joined the band in 2008!
“It’s not what you do it’s the way that you do it” and in Kevs case that’s
true. A phenomenal drummer, bassist and guitarist too, he succumbed to the
charm of the band Jewels and now HE IS the charm of the band Jewels. He and
Julie the Hooley now will involuntarily go off on a tangent talking about the
meaning of the latest movie for no apparent reason why the others nod
off!
Traits:-
- Likely to forget he is in the wrong part of the
country when he is meant to be somewhere else!
- Prone to shrieking loudly at any given time
- Only person known to mankind to talk faster and more
than Julie the Hooley!
- Smiles and laughs even more than Rufus
- Is a star chaser a man of God and a rocker darkness must fall within
Many influences that include Rush, U2, Thin Lizzy
Current Gear: Line 6 Amps; Zidjan Saber Cymbals and Premier/ Tamer kit

Andy “The BFG” Haslehurst - Bass Guitar
Andy started playing bass at 14 and did his first gig a
few weeks later. His first band was pretty much a Maiden covers band,
and his love of Maiden is evident in his galloping bass style. In and
out of local bands over the years before taking 10 years off, Andy has
recently been playing all over the Midlands music scene with his
previous band, Only The Good.
Traits:-
- prone to shocking flatulence.
- Almost as tall as Peter Crouch.
- Has been known to use his oven as a toilet.
- Very likely to fall over his own feet / walk into doors / break anything he comes into contact with.
Main influences: Iron Maiden, early Metallica, Deep Purple, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Biffy Clyro.
Uses: Fender, Yamaha, Ashdown, nicotine.

Julie the Hooley - Lead Vocals & Rhythm Guitar
Like many top singers, Julie's
love of singing started at school and then progressed, through singing in shows,
to jazz blues showcases and musicals, and finally to rock bands. She has sung
with bands with varied styles including rock, punk, rhythm and blues, also doing
studio & session work. Julie is a vital part of the Jewels team, and brings
a voice with a passionate rock edge, great stage presence, a cheeky style, and
energetic audience rapport.
Traits:-
- An infectious sense of humour
- Overly enthusiastic and excitable
- Easily led but spiritually sound
- Prone to be off meditating when she should be doing more grown up things
- Sings a great tune but incapable of dancing in a straight line
Influences include Ramones, Blondie, Sheryl Crow, Iggy Pop, Janis Joplin, Nina Simone, Offspring, Dead
Kennedys, Distillers, NOFX, Pink and Iron Maiden.
Ju uses Gibson Les Paul, Gibson
Explorer and Gibson ES175; Shure 57 Beta and Shure Beta 86 condenser

Ade Lee - Lead Guitar
At a young age Ade was
immediately influenced by the powerful sound of the electric guitar on hearing
Hendrix and the Sweet all in one day. Got first guitar at 14, played his first gig at 16 and
then was approached to join a rock/pop band taking him all over the country for
a few years. After the band's demise continued for a short time as a live session
guitarist until auditioning for Jewels
Traits:-
- Likely to disappear on occasion without saying goodbye.
- Occasionally found asleep in dustbins!
- Weirdly wonderful and strange sense of humour!
- Smiles a lot….hmmm!
Many influences that include Hendrix, Thin Lizzy, Audioslave, early AC/DC
Ade uses Gibson, Kramer and Takamine guitars and Line 6 amplification
